Madman In Waco
Written by Paul Ruderman. Copyright © 1998

Once upon a time, my friend
a self-proclaimed messiah and
79 of his best friends
apocalyptically drowned

As a boy retrieving prizes
he takes his highs and fantasizes
he takes his lows and he shuts them down
and sends them very far from grace, far from grace,
and is there any grace in this town?

Yes and it all comes down to the madman in waco
Yes and we all burned down for the madman in waco

Brainwashing all their lives
he told the men it was god' s plan to sleep with their wives
such that the babies born
possess the blood of Christ

Just another jaded man
groveling to god' s command
handing down to Uncle Sam
a casket full of eyes

Any freak can become the master
in fact, if he' s good, well he can hide anything you lack
Wasn't christ some sort of lumberjack before he spoke his mind?
And when there is no grace, there is a no grace,
there is no grace in this town

Yes and it all comes down to the madman in waco
Yes and we all burned down for the madman in waco

Was there more to the picture than I saw
I saw the flames corrupting all the air up high
Janet Re, I blame the FBI and me
For I am a bit more perturbed than I wanna be
I swear I don' t ever want to hear that there but for the grace of god go I

Calmed the kids down with promises
Threatened all, said hey man, could you hearken to thisS
You will only entertain
the thought that I'm your god

The FBI should' ve read my lips when I all but called for apocalypse
Well has there ever been a clearer sign than this?
And tell me how, tell me why, tell me where...
where is the grace, where is the grace, boys
and is there any grace in this town?

Yes and it all comes down to the madman in waco
Yes and we all burned down for the madman in waco
